Jags and Dolphins nearing completion of a Julius Thomas for Branden Albert trade
The Miami Dolphins are working to finalize a trade sending offensive lineman Branden Albert to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for tight end Julius Thomas.
The deal cannot be finalized until the start of the league's new year on March 9. The two principals in the deal are coming off disappointing seasons and would likely be released if not traded away. Thomas should replace another failed experiment in Jordan Cameron as the Dolphins starting tight end.
Thomas has been a bust in Jacksonville recording only 76 catches for 736 yards with nine touchdowns in 21 games. His net expected points per target of 0.42 ranked him 29th out of 32 tight ends with at least 50 targets in 2016.
