Bryce Petty

Jets' locker room forming anti-Bryce Petty coalition

New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty hasn't been named the starter because head coach Todd Bowles is in "fear of a player revolt," according to the New York Daily News.

What It Means:

"Rumblings on One Jets Drive" say Bowles is "concerned his team will check out" and Manish Mehta adds that it would cost the coach "credibility" in the locker room to choose Petty over a healthy Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Jets are going nowhere this season, so it would seem logical to at least see what they have in their 2015 fourth-round pick, but to each their own. They are on bye this week, so Bowles should make an announcement on the starter by Monday.

Among the 35 quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks this season, Fitzpatrick ranks 31st in Passing Net Expected Points per play (Case Keenum, Brock Osweiler, Blaine Gabbert, Jay Cutler). Through 10 games, The Jets rank 28th in the league in Adjusted Passing (NEP) per play.
