DeMarco Murray doesn't take any handoffs in team drills

Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray didn't take a single handoff during team drills on Sunday.

What It Means:

Per Jeff McLane, head coach Chip Kelly said that every player was going to be a full participant, but Murray took no handoffs. There were no explanations. Overreacting might be silly, but with the way Chip Kelly feels about replacing players, this could be something to keep an eye on.

Last season, Murray posted a Rushing Net Expected Points score of 10.48, which meant that he added 10.48 points to the Cowboys' overall point total throughout the season that an average runner wouldn't have gained. It sounds low, but he did have some costly fumbles, and it did still rank eighth among 32 backs with at least 150 carries last year. Our algorithms project Murray to record 279 carries, 1,248 yards, and 9 touchdowns this season.
