Martellus Bennett not worrying about his contract
Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett is no longer worrying about his contract.
He is to earn $4.9 million this season and $5.0 million next season.
Bennett's raw numbers looked good last year, and his 90 receptions led all tight ends. He ranked sixth at the position in Reception Net Expected Points (NEP), which indicates how many points above expectation level he added to the Bears' projected output. However, his Reception NEP per target score ranked 12th among 17 tight ends with at least 75 targets, meaning he was volume-dependent. Our algorithms project him to record 84 receptions, 868 yards, and 5 touchdowns this season.
