Lions committing to no-huddle offense in 2016

The Detroit Lions' offense has utilized a no-huddle look on 62 percent of their plays during the preseason.

What It Means:

This would be a big spike from last season, when the Lions utilized the no-huddle on just 7.0 percent of their offensive plays, finishing 30th in situation-neutral pace, according to Football Outsiders. "The faster you can push the tempo, when you want to, really, it just makes it more stressful on the defense," Matthew Stafford said. "If you feel like you're playing at a normal speed, and they think you're playing really fast, it feels a whole lot better for us." After excelling with offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter to close out last season, Stafford could be undervalued at his current QB16 average draft position.

Our models currently rank Stafford as the 16th quarterback entering the year, projecting him to complete 64.42 percent of his passes for 4,210 yards with 26.83 touchdowns and 14.07 interceptions. We expect him to add on another 155 yards on the ground with 1.31 rushing touchdowns.
