Cardinals extend Larry Fitzgerald and Carson Palmer

The Arizona Cardinals signed wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and quarterback Carson Palmer to one-year extensions, worth $11 million and $24.5 million, respectively.

What It Means:

The pair will now have a chance to retire in Cardinals uniforms. Fitzgerald is under contract through 2017, and Palmer through 2018. While clearly on the decline, the 33-year-old Fitzgerald showed that he has plenty left in the tank by snagging 109 catches for 1,215 yards and nine touchdowns last year. 36-year-old Palmer is coming off his best season by far in 2015.

Fitzgerald ranked 50th in Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target among the 86 wide receivers to catch at least 50 passes in 2015. Palmer came in at second in Passing NEP per drop back among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 150 drop backs last year.
