No progress for Saints and Drew Brees on extension
The New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees have had "no progress" in contract extension talks, general manager Mickey Loomis said.
It confirms previous reports. The Saints obviously want to extend Brees, but aren't feeling any pressure to lower his $30 million cap hit. The sides will still attempt to work something out before Week 1.
Brees racked up 0.24 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back in 2015, good for sixth among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 150 drop backs. Our algorithms project him for 4,947 passing yards, 34.57 touchdowns and 12.73 interceptions in 2016.
