Devontae Booker excelling as receiving back for Broncos

Denver Broncos rookie running back Devontae Booker shined as a receiver out of the backfield this spring, ESPN reporter Jeff Legwold says.

What It Means:

Legwold suggests Booker could receive "third-down consideration quickly," and running backs coach Eric Studesville already talked up Booker's pass-protection skills. Head coach Gary Kubiak has tended to use running back rotations in the past, but not backfields involving specialty committee roles. C.J. Anderson is Denver's best pass-blocking back, and his every-down job isn't in danger. Still, Booker could earn even more work and knock Ronnie Hillman off the roster if Hillman doesn't show an ability to play special teams.

Our algorithms project Booker for 21 rushes for 82 yards and 0.24 touchdowns, as well as 12 receptions for 102 yards and 0.31 touchdowns. He's our 89th-best fantasy running back heading into training camp. Hillman is still a top-50 back until we see otherwise.
