Charles Johnson

Vikings' Charles Johnson to be pushed by new additions

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson's roster spot is not guaranteed, and the additions of Laquon Treadwell and Moritz Boehringer pose the "biggest threat" to it, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Matt Vensel.

What It Means:

Vensel noted, however, that Johnson stood out at OTA's and minicamp as the starting "X" receiver opposite "Z" starter Stefon Diggs. It's highly unlikely Johnson holds off first-round rookie Treadwell, and he offers no special teams value, unlike Cordarrelle Patterson and Adam Thielen. The Vikings would have to decide between rostering one of Johnson and Boehringer.

We like Treadwell's rookie year prospects, as our algorithms project him for 57 receptions with 740 yards and 3.96 touchdowns in his first NFL campaign. He's our 50th-best receiver going into training camp. Johnson comes in at 95th, with just 26 receptions for 324 yards and 2 touchdowns.
