Colts sign Andrew Luck through 2021
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has signed a six-year, $140 million extension to remain with the Colts through 2021.
Luck was never expected to go anywhere; the only question was how much money it would take to lock up the prime years of his career. Well, it's a whopper. The $23.3 million average annual value makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, out-pacing Joe Flacco ($22.1 million). The deal includes $87 million guaranteed, an NFL record.
Luck had a bad year in 2015, struggling with injuries and poor play. Among passers with at least 100 attempts, he ranked 24th in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back. In 2014, Luck ranked eighth in Passing NEP per drop back among passers with at least 250 attempts. Indianapolis made an investment in their offensive line this offseason, and now the Colts have locked up their franchise signal caller.
