Sam Bradford

Eagles do not believe Sam Bradford is the clear-cut starter

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said calling Sam Bradford the clear starting quarterback is "probably not the right impression."

What It Means:

This contradicts what coach Doug Pederson has said all along, that Bradford is "the guy" at quarterback, seemingly locking him in as the starter. "No, that's probably not the right impression," Reich said when asked if Bradford is the clear starter. "This is one of the most competitive industries in the world and so, to say that there’s not competition, that’s just the furthest thing from the truth." Odds are still heavily favoring Bradford to start Week 1 thanks to his hefty salary, but if rookie Carson Wentz blows up this preseason, it's going to be hard to keep him off the field.

Considering 2015 was his first full season since 2012, Bradford didn't fare too badly. Among the 46 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs last season, Bradford ranked 23rd in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back with a clip of 0.08.
