Rams plan to throw Jared Goff into the fire

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff will have every chance to be the Week 1 starting quarterback, with Rams' coach Jeff Fisher saying the "goal" is the No. 1 pick to start right away.

What It Means:

The Rams don't have the luxury to sit their first-round quarterback behind a quality veteran stopgap like the Philadelphia Eagles do. And that certainly played into the Rams' decision between Goff and Wentz. Wentz may have the higher long-term ceiling, but Goff is viewed by most as the more pro-ready prospect. Case Keenum will hold the clipboard while the Rams attempt to unload Nick Foles either this draft weekend or this summer.

Goff (6-foot-4/215 pounds) made 37 starts in three seasons at Cal, completing 62.3 percent of his passes with a 7.78 yards-per-attempt mark, 96 touchdowns and 30 picks. Outside of possibly being an occasional streaming option, Goff doesn't figure to have much of a fantasy impact in standard leagues in 2016.
