Ezekiel Elliott lands with Dallas at No. 4

The Dallas Cowboys selected former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

What It Means:

Elliott emerged from Carlos Hyde's shadow to carry the mail for two years in Columbus, finishing his career with 3,961 yards and 43 touchdowns on 592 carries (6.69 yards per carry), adding 58 receptions. Elliott turned in a rock-solid Combine, running 4.47 40-yard dash with a 9-foot-10 broad jump and 32 1/2-inch vertical.

An exceptionally young prospect, Elliott won't turn 21 until just before his first NFL training camp. With the Cowboys' elite offensive line in front of him, Elliott may have landed in the best possible situation for his fantasy value. In dynasty formats, he's locked in as the first overall pick in rookie drafts, and he's a cinch top five running back before playing a snap in the NFL. As for redraft leagues, Elliott will likely come off the board quickly this fall.
