Redskins sign veteran tight end Vernon Davis

The Washington Redskins agreed to terms with tight end Vernon Davis on a one-year contract.

What It Means:

Davis was drafted by Redskins' general manager Scot McCloughan in San Francisco. It is an interesting signing for the Redskins, who have Jordan Reed as their "move" tight end. Davis' play has been in sharp decline for the last couple years, and he did nothing after the Denver Broncos traded for him midway through last season. Even if he sticks on the roster, Davis should be nothing more than veteran depth.

Among tight ends with at least 40 targets in 2015, Davis ranked 23rd in Reception Net Expected Points per target.
