Lions release longtime reserve running back Zach Zenner
The Detroit Lions have released running back Zach Zenner.
What It Means:
The Lions are bringing just three running backs with them into the regular season headed up by second-year back Kerryon Johnson. With Zenner's release, the backup job is all C.J. Anderson with rookie Ty Johnson serving as the occasional passing-down back and the third-string runner. Zenner is likely to land on his feet with another NFL club soon.
Zenner rushed for 265 yards and 3 touchdowns on 55 carries for the Lions in 2018.
