Cowboys' Jason Witten catches 1,000th pass of career in win

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten caught 5-of-9 targets for 45 yards in the Cowboys' Week 13 win over the Washington Redskins on Monday night.

What It Means:

Witten, 33, entered the game with 998 career catches. With five more, he became the second tight end ever to catch 1,000 passes, joining only Tony Gonzalez. Witten is just the 12th player ever to reach the milestone and joined active players Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson. Anquan Boldin (989) should be next up by season's end.

Witten was able to turn his nine targets into 4.70 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP). Sabatoged by poor quarterback play this year, Witten has been one of the league's least efficient tight ends. Among the 28 tight ends with at least 35 targets, he entered the week ranked 24th in Reception NEP per target. Witten and the Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers in Week 14. Green Bay ranks 18th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per drop back.
