Nick Mullens throws 3 touchdowns in NFL debut, 49ers roll Raiders
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens completed 16-of-22 passes for 262 yards with 3 touchdowns in a 34-3, Week 9 undressing of the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night.
The second-year undrafted quarterback out of Southern Miss turned in one of the best statistical performances ever from a signal-caller making their NFL debut. He connected with a wide-open Pierre Garcon in the first quarter for his first career touchdown and then added two more in the second and third, to Kendrick Bourne and George Kittle. Mullens joined Fran Tarkenton (1961) and Jim Kelly (1986) as the only quarterbacks to throw for over 250 yards with 3-plus touchdowns and no interceptions in an NFL debut since 1950. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he hasn't decided who will start Week 10 versus the New York Giants. C.J. Beathard is dealing with a wrist injury.
Mullens scored a game-high 22.2 FanDuel points in his debut.
