Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio (quad) targeting Sunday for debut

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio (quad) is planning to go through a full practice on Friday and Saturday with the intention of suiting up for Sunday's preseason game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Timberwolves interim head coach Sam Mitchell said after Tuesday's practice.

What It Means:

All of this is good news. Rubio is looking to bounce back after a disappointing -- and injury-plagued -- 2014-15 season.

With Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins, Rubio and the Timberwolves will be fun to watch on the break. Rubio averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 boards and 8.8 assists in just 22 games a year ago as his season was shortened by injury. For him to take the next step as a fantasy asset, he'll have to improve on his three-point shooting. He hit just 25 percent of his treys last season.
