Report: Spurs held players-only meeting, calling for Kawhi Leonard (quad) to return
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the San Antonio Spurs held a players-only meeting, "imploring" forward Kawhi Leonard to return to the lineup.
The meeting came after the team's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night. Point guard Tony Parker led the way in what was called a tense and emotional conversation as teammates expressed their frustrations over the divide caused by the situation. Leonard insisted that he had good reason not to return, which is rooted in the medical evaluations provided by his own team. Cleared by the team, he is without a timetable and could be forcing the Spurs to forego a possible $200 million extension this summer.
In 9 games, Leonard has averaged 23.3 minutes with 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
