Pelicans' Omer Asik out three weeks with calf strain
New Orleans Pelicans forward Omer Asik (calf strain) is expected to miss three weeks.
Asik could be ready for the start of the season, but it increases the uncertainty in the team's front court. Alexis Ajinca is expected to miss another four to six weeks with a hamstring strain. Any time missed for Asik could lead to an expanded role for Ryan Anderson.
Asik finished last season ranked 62nd in nERD at 1.7 while Anderson was a bit lower with a nERD of 0.2. Asik started all 76 games in which he played last year, averaging 26.1 minutes with a 112 Offensive Rating, meaning any time missed would result in opportunity via volume for others.
