Pelicans' Anthony Davis (quad) missing first game of season Wednesday
New Orleans Pelicans forward/center Anthony Davis (quad) will not play Wednesday against the Orlando Magic.
Davis is familiar with the injury report, but this will be the first scratch of the season for the big man. He missed Wednesday's shootaround and should be considered questionable for Friday's matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers. This will open up plenty of work for the entire Pelicans' roster, but Terrence Jones and Omer Asik should see the biggest upgrades.
numberFire's metrics already like Jones as a value play on FanDuel Wednesday night, and that doesn't even account for Davis' absence. We currently have him pegged for 11.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks tonight versus Orlando.
