David Lee and Amir Johnson to start for Celtics?
According to Celtics beat writer Gary Washburn, David Lee and Amir Johnson will start in the frontcourt for the Celtics this upcoming season.
Lee was traded from Golden State, and Johnson was signed as a free agent. The Celtics will be able to play two veterans in the post to balance with their young, talented backcourt rotation. Amir Johnson will also be able to make up for David Lee's defensive inability.
Lee posted a solid 2.7 nERD, which indicates how many wins above or below .500 a player would make a league-average team during a full season as a starter, on Golden State while averaging 7.9 points and 5.2 rebounds in only 18.4 minutes per game. Johnson also produced a respectable 2.4 nERD while on Toronto. These offseason acquisitions will shift Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger to reserve roles.
