Clippers acquire James Harden from 76ers in seven-player swap

The Los Angeles Clippers are acquiring guard/forward James Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers.

What It Means:

The 76ers are reportedly sending Harden, P.J. Tucker and Filip Petrusev to the Clippers for Marcus Morris, Robert Covington, Nicolas Batum, KJ Martin, a 2028 unprotected first-round pick, two second-round picks, a 2029 pick swap, and an additional first-round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Harden, who sat out the 76ers' first three games of the season, will be joining his fourth team in as many seasons. His arrival will likely have the largest impact on Russell Westbrook's usage rate and result in less playing time for Bones Hyland and Norman Powell. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George could also see a slight downtick in play-making opportunities. On the other side of things, Tyrese Maxey is locked in as the 76ers' starting point guard for the rest of the season.

Harden had a 25.0% usage rate in 58 games for the 76ers last season and averaged 46.2 FanDuel points in 36.8 minutes per game, with 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 10.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.8 3-pointers. Kawhi leads the Clippers this season with a 29.6% usage rate, followed by Hyland (29.5%), and George (28.9%). Powell is next closest at 21.4%.
