Jonas Valanciunas to receive bigger role in Raptors' offense
Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas appears to be headed for a larger role in the offense.
Finally. Valanciunas was Toronto's best player in the postseason before sustaining his ankle injury, and at 24 years old, the big man is ready to carry more weight on his shoulders. "Yes he is," general manager Masai Ujiri said when asked if Valanciunas was prepared for an increased role. "Even from talking to [head coach Dwane Casey] we feel that way, Jonas feels that way, players feel that way."
After averaging career bests in points (12.8) and rebounds (9.1), expect another step forward in 2016-17. Valanciunas ranked 20th in the league with a 7.6 nERD this season.
