5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 4/22/19
Steve Pearce draws a scary matchup tonight against the red-hot Matt Boyd. Is the platoon advantage and a low salary enough to put him in play?

Ian Desmond, OF, Colorado Rockies

Price: $3,000

Speaking of offenses you want exposure to, value plays in Coors Field games are almost always going to be good sources of underpriced upside.

As favorites in a game with an 11-run over/under on FanDuel Sportsbook, the Colorado Rockies should do a ton of scoring at home against the Washington Nationals and right-hander Jeremy Hellickson.

Hellickson has opened the season with an awful 6.36 SIERA and a walk rate (13.8%) higher than his strikeout rate (10.3%).

Ian Desmond is having a poor start to 2019, but considering he's only got a .240 BABIP (compared to his career average of .321), we can feel good about projecting him to bounce back. That's especially while his 35.3% hard-hit rate and 11.8% soft-hit rate are both on pace to be the best marks of his major league career, while also coming with a career-high 36.0% fly-ball rate.

Contact like that in Coors is always going to offer some serious upside, and a juicy matchup against Hellickson only compounds that tonight.
