5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 4/22/19
Steve Pearce draws a scary matchup tonight against the red-hot Matt Boyd. Is the platoon advantage and a low salary enough to put him in play?

Yan Gomes, C, Washington Nationals

Price: $3,000

Another play on the more expensive end of the value play range (a luxury we can afford tonight with the top studs being relatively cheap), Yan Gomes is coming off one of his better seasons from the dish. His .326 wOBA was nothing to write home about, but he paired that with a solid .184 ISO while turning in an outstanding 43.2% hard-hit rate, 41.1% fly-ball rate and 13.9% soft-hit rate.

He did some especially big work against southpaws, with a .361 wOBA and .189 ISO on a 45.6% hard-hit rate, and that positions him well against Tyler Anderson tonight.

Anderson's not a complete pushover, but he hasn't posted a SIERA better than 4.14 since he was a rookie (2016), and even for a Rockies pitcher, throwing at Coors Field exposes him to a ton of home run potential.

Those hard-hit fly balls Gomes made a habit of hitting last year are exactly what you want to see in the power-friendly environment of Coors Field, and Gomes is a nice cheap way to get high-upside exposure to the Nationals' lineup.
