With seven games to choose from on tonight's NBA slate, let's take a look at how to utilize the DFS possibilities.

Point Guard

Lonzo Ball ($6,900) -- Ball nearly notched his second triple-double of the season posting 10 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists in a loss to the Celtics on Saturday. Ball has surpassed 40 fantasy points in five of his last seven games and increased his season average to 30.7. In 2020, Ball is averaging 42 fantasy points per game in six contests since the New Year, with four of them coming on the road. In those four road games, he's averaged 44.8 fantasy points and tonight the Pelicans finish off a three-game road-trip in Detroit. Ball is set up to continue his stretch of surprising yet excellent play in a game where both defenses allow a combined 228.2 points per game.

Chris Paul ($6,600) -- If no one is going to say it then I will, Chris Paul has been playing like an All-Star this season, and I will back that up. No one expected Paul to stay in Oklahoma City -- arguably not even him -- yet they are the seventh seed in the Western Conference and 22-17 overall. In 2020, Paul is averaging 17.2 points, 6.2 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 37.3 fantasy points in six games shooting nearly 50-percent (49.4%) from the field. Despite the Thunder's embarrassing home loss to the Lakers without either of their superstars, they have the perfect road game with a trip to Minnesota. The Timberwolves play the sixth-fastest pace in the league (105.5) and rank 25th in points allowed with 114.7 per game. The Wolves also allow the most rebounds opponent the most defensive (38.5) and total rebounds (49.7) giving Paul and the Thunder opportunities for second-chance points - a weakness for the Wolves (26th).

Shooting Guard

Derrick Rose ($6,700) -- Rose has recorded five-straight games scoring 20 points or more and led the team in assists with five or more in three of the past five games. He's also made his last 24 free throws stretching over six games while shooting 51.6% from the field going 47-for-91. Rose ranks top 25 in player efficiency rating (24th) and assists (23rd) coming off the bench in 33 of 34 games for the Pistons. Even with all the injuries to Detroit, they've chosen to keep him on the bench where he has excelled. The Pelicans are 5th in fast-break points (16.4) and 7th in pace (105.4), which plays right into Rose's game. Our model projects Rose to record 18.5 points, 6 assists, and 2.8 rebounds at home tonight.

Zach LaVine ($8,500) -- LaVine has been on a tear recording at least 42 fantasy points in six-straight games to open the New Year, as he bids for his first All-Star selection. He's definitely gaining attention with the way he's been torching defenses scoring 32, 35, and 43 points in three of his past six games. He's up to 14th in scoring at 24.4 points per game which would be a career-high for him if the season ended today. That 35-point performance recently was against Boston -- who Chicago plays again tonight. LaVine went 11-for-21 from the field (52.4%), 5-for-9 from deep (55.6%), and 8-for-14 (57%) from the free-throw line in that home loss to the Celtics. He's attempted nine three-pointers per game over his last six making 3.3 per game. The Celtics allow 34 three-point attempts per game (18th) while the Bulls average 35.4 (9th) per game. Expect LaVine to take triples early to establish a rhythm early versus the third-ranked defensive net rated unit in the league (104.5).

Small Forward

Jaylen Brown ($6,300) -- Last season, versus teams he played two times or more, Brown scored the most points per game versus the Chicago Bulls than any other opponent -- 21.5 points. To go along with 21.5 points, he also averaged 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 made three-pointers in the four meetings, including 59.3% from the field and 55.6% from deep. Nine days ago, the Celtics played the Bulls and Brown recorded 19 points on 7-for-13 shooting, 3-for-5 from deep, seven rebounds, and three assists. Brown is also averaging more points (21.5), a better shooting percentage (52%), and more fantasy points per game (36.5) in Boston home games. Brown is predicted to record 18.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2 assists by our model.

Brandon Ingram ($8,100) -- Along with Ball, Ingram has a favorable matchup against the depleted Pistons tonight in Detroit. Ingram is averaging 24.3 points, 6 assists, and 5.5 rebounds over his last six games with three games of 28 points or more in his last four. The Pistons don't have the serviceable bench players that match up well with Ingram's length and game. Ingram has attempted 8.3 three-pointers in his last six games making 3.3 per game, while going 31-for-33 (90.9%) from the free-throw line in his past five games. Ingram is scoring 36.6% of his points in the paint, 29.9% from threes, and 13.3% from mid-range to name a few different ways Ingram is getting his 11th ranked 25.1 points per game.

Power Forward

Danilo Gallinari ($6,400) -- Gallinari along with Chris Paul have been the leaders of this Thunder team, and Gallinari has recorded at least 18 points, three made-three pointers, and 32 fantasy points over his last four games. The Timberwolves are allowing 35.9% of their opponent's three's to be made, ranking right in the middle of the pack at 16th. The Thunder have only made more three-pointers (395) than the San Antonio Spurs (391), but Gallinari is 17th in the league with 96 made triples and 22nd in attempted threes (242). Gallinari has hit three triples in nine-straight games, and I like that to continue tonight with Gallinari to surpass his average of 18.3 points per game.

Kyle Kuzma ($5,900) -- Am I missing something or was that a one-time performance from Kuzma scoring 36 points against the Thunder? I think we're starting to see the beginning of something, and we're forgetting Kuzma clearly outplayed Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram last season, as Kuzma is the only player remaining. Kuzma recorded 26-and-36 points in his past two games grabbing at least six rebounds, and hitting six three-pointers combined. The Cleveland Cavaliers are the second-worst defensive net rated team (113.9) and are last in turnovers per game (14.5). That will directly feed into the Lakers' fast-break offense, which is ranked second with 18.1 points per game. Kuzma's averaging 26 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.6 made three-pointers over his last three games (With Anthony Davis out) and is a steal whether LeBron James ($9,500) is in the lineup or not against his former team.

Center

Andre Drummond ($10,300) -- Drummond was ejected in his previous game against the Bulls, early in the third quarter out of frustration. He finished the night with only nine points and four rebounds but he is now back at home and is up against one the worst teams in the paint. The Pelicans rank 27th in the league, allowing 52.1 of their 114.7 points per game to be scored in the paint, and 26th in defensive net rating (112.7). Drummond could dominate the interior, as he grabs 37.5% (15.9 rpg) of the Pistons last-ranked 42.4 rebounds per game. The Pistons are eighth in points in the paint, scoring 49.1 of their 22nd ranked 108.2 points per game and Drummond is a big part of that. Our model backs Drummond's big night with 19.5 points and a league-high 16.4 rebounds tonight versus the Pelicans.

Steven Adams ($6,400) -- Adams had three-straight double-doubles before falling two rebounds short in each of his past two games. Adams has averaged 35 fantasy points over his last 10 games and 37.1 in his last six games compared to his season average of 32.2. Minnesota is the worst in the league, allowing the most defensive (38.5) and total rebounds (49.7) per game. This puts Adams in a good spot as he has grabbed 13 rebounds per game over his last five. Tonight is looking like an ideal double-double for Adams, which could be his sixth in the past 10 games. Our model backs that prediction with Adams projected to record 12.7 points and 10.7 rebounds tonight in Minnesota.
