FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 5/1/19

For a nine-game main slate, Wednesday checks in with quite the crew of names taking the mound on what is decidedly a pitcher-centric board. As of this writing, no team cracks five runs for their implied totals, but the Braves, Brewers, Astros, and Phillies all exceed 4.70.

Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Max Scherzer ($11,600 on FanDuel): When Max Scherzer takes the mound, we take notice, and despite an uncharacteristic 4.12 ERA, he's putting up his usual dominating numbers in a 2.56 SIERA, 34.0% strikeout rate, and 3.1% walk rate. The ERA merely looks like the product of some bad luck than anything else, with his .372 BABIP sitting several rungs higher than his career average (.289). A date with the Cardinals won't do him any favors -- they're pushing a 117 wRC+ against righties these days -- but few can match Scherzer's strikeout upside, and St. Louis is still only slated for a 3.65 implied total. Jacob deGrom ($10,900) owns the highest strikeout rate on the slate (37.7%) and draws a favorable matchup against the Reds, but his recent form and bouts with elbow soreness make him riskier than usual.
