FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Sunday 4/8/18
Charlie Morton has enticing upside in his matchup with the Padres. Which other players should you target on Sunday's main slate?

The beauty of daily fantasy baseball is that the top targets are different each and every day. Whether it's the right-handed catcher who destroys left-handed pitching or the mid-range hurler facing a depleted lineup, you're not going to find yourself using the same assets time after time.

While this breaks up the monotony, it can make it hard to decide which players are primed to succeed on a given day. We can help bridge that gap.

In addition to our custom optimal lineups, you can check out our batting and pitching heat maps, which show the pieces in the best spot to succeed on that slate. Put on the finishing touches with our games and lineups page to see who's hitting where and what the weather looks like, and you'll have yourself a snazzy-looking team to put up some big point totals.

If you need help getting started on that trek, here are some of the top options on the board today. We'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate.

Editor's note: Since publication, the Twins-Mariners game has been cancelled.

Pitchers to Target

High-Priced Pitchers

Charlie Morton ($9,100 on FanDuel): Morton is quietly one of the better strikeout pitchers in the game, and he put up a 26.4% strikeout rate, 10.9% swinging-strike rate and 3.70 SIERA last season. The only issue with him is a lack of sustained health, but that doesn't impact things too much in DFS. Morton was stellar in his season debut, holding the Baltimore Orioles to three hits and two walks while fanning six over six shutout innings. The 18.7% swinging-strike rate he put up in that game hints at even more upside, and the San Diego Padres should be an ideal matchup as they were second in strikeout rate a year ago (25.2%) and currently boast a 24.9% strikeout rate this season. Our models have Morton as the main slate's top arm.
