Jacob deGrom is another guy who has opened 2017 with some drastically improved numbers. Unlike Arrieta, though, production like this is uncharted territory for deGrom.

His 2.80 SIERA, 34.4% strikeout rate and 17.6% swinging-strike rate are all on pace to be career bests by pretty significant margins. He has managed to turn those numbers into some strong fantasy production, including 10-plus strikeouts in each of his last three starts.

With a below-average strikeout rate and a 99 wRC+ against right-handers, the Atlanta Braves don't present a great matchup and there's definitely some risk when considering deGrom's hefty price tag. However, the upside is absolutely there and he makes for an especially appealing option in tournaments while Arrieta will likely absorb the bulk of the high-priced pitching ownership.
