If you have played daily fantasy sports for a while, you know the importance of being contrarian in large-field tournaments. Recognizing which players are going to be owned by the masses and finding others who you think have a similar point projection but will come at much lower ownership can really separate yourself from your opponents.
The same goes for DFS Premier League. Even though the large-field tournaments aren't quite as large as they are for other sports, there is still value in identifying quality under-the-radar plays.
This article will discuss FanDuel's main Saturday slate, which starts at 10:00 a.m. EST and features only three matches.
Matchweek 27 |
---|
Saturday, February 23rd |
Huddersfield at Newcastle |
Wolves at Bournemouth |
Crystal Palace at Leicester City |
The 27th main slate of the season is three-match slate with no elite sides in action. Newcastle are the largest favorites on the slate with an implied win probability of just 53.5%, per FanDuel Sportsbook, at home against Huddersfield. Leicester City are slight home favorite in a pick'em against Crystal Palace while Wolves are slight away favorites in a pick'em versus Bournemouth.
With only three games, no elite sides, and no sides in excellent positions, ownership should be relatively spread out across all options this weekend. Outside of Wilfried Zaha ($12,500), and possibly Jamie Vardy ($10,500), there aren't many players likely to draw ownership on name recognition alone. The most expensive midfielder on the slate is Crystal Palace's Luka Milivojevic ($9,500), which tells you everything you need to know about the other options available.
With no elite sides in action and no studs in great spots, avoiding the players who do end up with the highest levels of ownership is even more valuable. If it can be beneficial to fade stars like Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Paul Pogba when their ownership is going to be high, it can certainly be beneficial to avoid lesser players when their ownership could be at the same levels. With fewer options available, players who rarely receive a look in DFS are worth considering for tournaments this weekend.
With that in mind, here are two players to consider this weekend -- especially for tournament formats -- who may fly under the radar.
