The St. Louis Rams have waived running back Isaiah Pead, according to Myles Simmons of StLouisRams.com.
The team also signed former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Nick Toon to the practice squad. With rookie Todd Gurley having made his debut Sunday, the team had a crowded backfield with Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham.
Pead was a second-round pick in 2012, but he never had more than 10 carries in a season. His two carries this year turned into -5.02 Rushing Net Expected Points, largely thanks to a lost fumble. Pead doesn't have much production to stand on as he hits the free agent market.
