New York Giants defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul was assigned the franchise tag on Monday.
The Giants made it clear they weren't going to let Pierre-Paul go anywhere this offseason. He remains one of the best defensive ends in the NFL, and is coming off a season in which he recorded seven sacks and forced three fumbles across 12 games. Expect both sides to work towards a long-term deal over the next few months.
The Giants finished second-best in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play last season.
