St. Louis Rams cornerback E.J. Gaines will miss the 2015 season after suffering a Lisfranc injury that will require surgery.
The injury occurred on the opening day of training camp when he got tangled up with wide receiver Kenny Britt during a drill.
Last year, Gaines recorded 70 tackles (63 of which were solo), 2 interceptions, and 14 passes defended as a rookie. The Rams ranked 12th in pass defense, according to our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points metric, which indicates how a team fares relative to expectation level. Our algorithms projected Gaines to record 62 tackles and 2 interceptions this year with 11 passes defended.
