The New York Giants will "make a legitimate run" at impending free agent defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul "in the coming days and weeks," reports NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
"They will try and get a deal done before he can potentially hit the free agent market," Garafolo continued. The Giants freed up $10 million in cap space with the releases of Victor Cruz and Rashad Jennings on Monday, so they should have the financial means to get a deal done.
Pierre-Paul recorded seven sacks in 12 games this past season, as well as forcing three fumbles and recovering one for a touchdown. The Giants finished second-best in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
