New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will miss six-to-eight weeks after undergoing sports-hernia surgery Tuesday morning.
ESPN's Ed Werder reported on Tuesday that the initial diagnosis didn't reveal a sports hernia, but that obviously wasn't the case. Dr. William Meyers performed the operation on Tuesday, and Pierre-Paul is likely out for the remainder of the season unless the Giants make it to the conference championship or Super Bowl. Romeo Okwara and Kerry Wynn will fill in in his absence.
The Giants' defense ranks 13th in schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play going into Week 14.
