Oakland Raiders running back DeAndre Washington is listed behind Taiwan Jones' on the team's initial depth chart.
The Raiders, like every team, stress it's just an initial guess, and nothing concrete. That's especially true in this instance. Washington is a raw fifth-rounder out of Texas Tech, but Jones is not a legitimate NFL running back. The Raiders are simply making Washington jump through the normal rookie hoops. The team has used ample breath talking him up. Barring a preseason catastrophe, Washington will be backing up Latavius Murray in Week 1, and immediately siphoning snaps on passing downs.
Our algorithms project Washington for a solid role in Oakland's backfield this year, with 104 carries for 396 rush yards and 2.15 touchdowns, to go with 38 receptions for 292 yards receiving and 1.19 scores.
