Free agent inside linebacker Donald Butler has signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
Butler, a former third-round pick of the San Diego Chargers, was cut after receiving a huge contract in 2014, and left behind $18.69 million of dead money in San Diego.
Butler started nine games last year for a Chargers team that ranked 29th in the NFL with a schedule-adjusted 0.11 Defensive Net Expected Points per play. He likely won't be much more than depth on a Cardinals defense that ranked seventh in the NFL last season.
