7 Deep Fantasy Football Sleepers for Week 3

Jay Cutler, QB, Miami Dolphins

Jay Cutler is back!

The former Chicago Bears quarterback and short-lived TV analyst showed why the Miami Dolphins had faith in his abilities, as he guided the Fish to a 19-17 win in their season opener. He was an efficient 24-of-33 for 230 yards and 1 touchdown (and no turnovers). His 0.19 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per pass ranks him 11th out of the 33 quarterbacks to attempt at least 30 passes this season.

With a matchup on tap against the lowly New York Jets, Cutler heads into Week 3 as a favorable and widely-available streaming option.

The Dolphins' offense is expected to romp against their AFC East rival, as the Jets have allowed the most points per game (33.0) of any team in the NFL. The Jets' secondary, in particular, has struggled. They have allowed 5 passing touchdowns and an average of 20.0 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Only the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots have allowed more. Factor in Jay Ajayi nursing a knee injury and Miami may need to lean on Smokin' Jay in Week 3.
