The New Orleans Saints backfield got a little more crowded on Monday. While many expected Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson to divvy up the workload, head coach Sean Payton added a third back to the mix in Alvin Kamara. The rookie from Tennessee ended up leading the team with seven carries and was on the field for half of their snaps (31).
Game flow may have played a part in Kamara seeing more action than expected, as the Saints were trailing the Minnesota Vikings throughout. However, with the New England Patriots coming to town in Week 2, it's fair to say the Saints could be playing from behind once again. The Saints are six-point underdogs with the highest over/under on the slate (56.0), and if we add in the Pats' newfound defensive struggles -- 537 total yards allowed in Week 1 -- we could see a shootout in the Big Easy on Sunday.
Sitting with an ownership percentage of under 15%, Kamara makes for the perfect flier in deep leagues for Week 2.
