3 Late-Round Defenses to Target in Your Fantasy Football Draft
Don't waste one of your mid-round picks on a defense. Instead, wait until the later rounds and pick one of these three teams with great early-season matchups.

Buffalo Bills

Week 1 - vs. New York Jets
Week 2 - at Carolina Panthers

The Buffalo Bills are the top defense to target late in drafts since they have the premiere Week 1 matchup, hosting the New York Jets.

At the moment, Josh McCown is expected to be the Jets' Week 1 starter (although that may not be a sure thing), but following the season-ending injury to Quincy Enunwa, it's unknown who will be the starting receivers. Austin Seferian-Jenkins is also out with a two-game suspension to start the year.

With a paltry group of weapons on offense, early lines from Vegas have the Bills as a 7-point home favorite, projecting the Jets to score just 18 points. Meanwhile, our metrics project the Jets to be the NFL's second-worst offense in 2017, better than only the Los Angeles Rams

Should you land the Bills in your draft, be aware that you'll need to find another option for Week 2. Buffalo travels to face the Carolina Panthers for Week 2, and we should be able to find a better matchup on the waiver wire. But for Week 1, it doesn't get any better than a matchup against the Jets.
