10 Fringe Prospects Who Boosted Their Value at the NFL Combine
Before the NFL Combine, these prospects were flying under the radar. Now they might be legitimate NFL draftees.

Robert Davis, WR, Georgia State

Profile: 6’2-5/8”, 219 lbs., 33” arms, 9-5/8” hands

Georgia State Panthers wide receiver Robert Davis was clearly the standout of the show.

After coming in relatively unknown, he tore up the Combine to the tune of a 4.44 40-yard dash, a 4.28 short shuttle, 6.82 three-cone, 41-inch vertical jump, and 11’6” broad jump. These are some of the best workout numbers that have been put up in the last two decades of the event, but usually the guy doing them is half a foot shorter and 40 pounds lighter than Davis.

Davis’ production in a run-first offense over the last two years (126 catches for 1,920 yards and 11 touchdowns) gives me big reason to think he might be a guy going under the radar. His workout should fix that, though; he has the production despite scheme and the prototypical measurables to be an outside wide receiver in the pros.

Per numberFire’s Similarity Score, his closest comparisons include Julio Jones (93.49% similar), Charles Johnson (91.25%), and Donte Moncrief (90.90%).
