NFL
Market Share Report: Stefon Diggs' Breakout Is Here
In fantasy football, opportunity can give us more actionable information than results. Which players saw their opportunities change in Week 2 of the NFL season?

Target Market Shares

1. DeVante Parker Is Back

DeVante Parker had a horrible, no good, very bad training camp, and everything was working against his fantasy stock. Then he stepped on the football field, and the world was suddenly right again.

Parker tied Jarvis Landry for the team lead in targets with 13, putting Parker second on the team for the season despite missing the first game. That would seem noteworthy.

After bursting on the scene last year in Week 12, Parker controlled 18.7% of the team's targets for the remainder of the year. He's already up to 18.3% this year, meaning we should expect a big role for Parker going forward. This will do well to wash the bad taste out of our mouths after his awful summer.

2. Michael Crabtree's Role Is Diminished

Michael Crabtree had it all in his first year with the Oakland Raiders. Hed led the team in targets, besting Amari Cooper by 16, and he controlled most of the team's red zone work. All of that appears to have dried up.

Crabtree only received five targets in Sunday's game, putting him fourth on the team behind guys like Clive Walford, Seth Roberts and Latavius Murray. This plunges Crabtree's target market share for the season down to 17.1%, well behind Cooper's mark of 24.4%.

This would be less concerning if it hadn't coincided with a dip in snap rate for Crabtree. He played 76% of the snaps in Week 2, a far cry from his 93.2% in Week 1. Crabtree still has a role in the offense, but it seems clear that the role will be smaller than it was last year.

3. We Probably Underestimated Stefon Diggs

It seemed the whole offseason as if Stefon Diggs would be heavily-involved in the Minnesota Vikings' offense. His only issues stemmed from being on a slow offense that heavily preferred to chug along on the ground.

He cares not for our concerns.

Diggs garnered 11 targets in Week 2, pushing him to 20 through the team's first two games for a 31.3% market share. Now, with Adrian Peterson likely to miss some time and the offensive line struggling to open holes for the running game, the team could be hitting the air more often, so, yeah, it's time to get excited about this guy.

It may be too late to buy high on Diggs in season-long leagues. However, he's only $6,400 on FanDuel as the Vikings go on the road to face an inexperienced Carolina Panthers secondary. You don't get this type of market share at that price often, and with the potential for a high-volume passing attack, Diggs should be on your radar.
