Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid didn't play against the Miami Heat on Wednesday due to swelling in his ankle from Monday's game against the New York Knicks, head coach Brett Brown said.
It's encouraging news that Embiid's absence had nothing to do with his knee or foot, but it sounds like the All-Star break is coming at an optimal time for the 23-year-old big man. Embiid and the 76ers are off until next Thursday for a road matchup with the Chicago Bulls.
Embiid is averaging 43.1 FanDuel points in 44 games this season. After the break, numberFire's models project him to record 18.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game over the remainder of the year.
