Detroit Pistons point guard Ish Smith scored only 5 points on 2-of-12 shooting on Thursday, but also matched his career-high with 16 assists in 33 minutes of action as the Pistons scored a 114-108 overtime win over the Charlotte Hornets.
Smith played significantly more minutes than starting point guard Reggie Jackson, who the Pistons were reportedly shopping at the trade deadline. It wouldn't be a big surprise to see Smith's role increase moving forward.
Smith is averaging 8.4 points, 5.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 23.7 minutes per game this season. He ranks 384th in the NBA with a -1.9 nERD.
