Free agent point guard Ish Smith has reached an agreement with the Detroit Pistons on a three-year deal, worth a reported $18 million.
Smith wasn't one of the hot free agents on the market at point guard, but the Pistons didn't need "hot", and the signing fills their need for a backup facilitator.
Smith finished the season with an ugly -7.2 nERD (147th in the league, fifth-worst mark among qualified players), but he averaged 12.6 points, 6.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. He posted career-highs with a 14.9 player efficiency rating and 46.5 true shooting percentage.
