Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) will not play on Wednesday against the Orlando Magic.
The team is calling it "injury maintenance, left knee soreness," but it's likely a case of load management on the second end of a back-to-back. Matisse Thybulle and Furkan Korkmaz have drawn starts in place of Embiid this season. Al Horford should be well rested for an expanded workload after sitting out Tuesday. Embiid scored 27 points (10-of-20 field goals, 4-of-5 free throws) with 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks, and 3 3-pointers on Tuesday in a 98-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Embiid is averaging 47.5 FanDuel points through seven games. numberFire's models project him for 28.3 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.7 steals, 2.0 blocks, and 1.5 3-pointers per game over the rest of the season.
