NBA
3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 1/4/17

Dwight Howard, C, Atlanta Hawks

FanDuel Price: $7,700

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Dwight Howard is coming off a weak performance and isn't likely to be popular on FanDuel, where you can roster just one center. DeMarcus Cousins and Marc Gasol are both in great spots, and Willie Reed is sure to be a popular value play after posting 22 points and 18 rebounds on Tuesday night.

Why You Should Use Him:

Howard was playing well prior to his dud against an elite San Antonio Spurs defense, averaging 17.2 points, 17.2 rebounds, and 40.9 FanDuel points over his six previous games. One of said games came against this Orlando Magic defense, where he put up 20 points and 16 boards.

Orlando has struggled against opposing centers, allowing the seventh-most FanDuel points per game to the position. More specifically, they've been absolutely abused in the post.

No team has allowed more points per possession via post up than the Magic have, and Bismack Biyombo has been exposed down low. Often thought of as a quality defender, Biyombo has allowed more points per possession on post ups than any qualified big man in the league.

Teammate Nikola Vucevic hasn't been much better on the block, either. Vucevic allowed the sixth-most points in the post last season and has allowed a higher points per possession in the post this year. In six career matchups against him, Howard has averaged 40.8 FanDuel points.

Orlando also has the seventh-worst rebounding rate in the NBA, while starting center Bismack Biyombo ranks 28th among qualified centers in rebounding rate. Howard, the NBA's leader in rebounding rate, should dominate the glass.
