The Chicago Cubs acquired starting pitcher Cole Hamels and cash considerations from the Texas Rangers for right-handed reliever Eddie Butler and minor league right-hander Rollie Lacy.
Hamels spun a 3.41 ERA through his first 15 starts this season but the veteran left-hander owns a troubling 10.23 ERA over his last five. The Cubs are hoping that a new uniform will help him get back on track as they gear up for a World Series run.
Hamels averaged 28.3 FanDuel points per start for the Rangers, while recording a 4.72 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 114 strikeouts and 42 walks across 114 1/3 innings.
