Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (shoulder) is expected to rejoin the Cubs on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants.
Bryant is on a plane out to San Francisco, which is usually a prelude to being activated from the DL. Bryant has been on the shelf since June 23 with a shoulder strain, but he has started in Double-A for the Tennessee Smokies over the last two days. If activated, Bryant will likely slide back into the lineup at third base and hit against right-hander Johnny Cueto on Wednesday.
Upon his return, our models project Bryant for a .280 batting average with 10 home runs, 36 runs scored, 32 RBI, and 3 steals over 242 plate appearances remaining this season.
